Chicken Noodle Soup - Low Sodium and Full of Flavor

Chicken Noodle Soup - Low Sodium and Full of Flavor

Pressure Cooker

Chicken noodle soup is a favorite for a lot of people. Any time you had a cold, your mom probably gave you soup to help make you feel better. Today it is high is sodium so many people with high blood pressure or other health issues can not eat it.

Low sodium soup can be packed full of flavor. Comparison shopping for cans of soup will make you realize two things. Regular chicken noodle soup has the equivalent of a whole day of sodium. Lower sodium soup still has a significant amount of sodium. The only alternative was to simply not eat any canned soup.

The secret to being able to enjoy chicken noodle soup is to make it yourself. Chicken does not have a lot of sodium in it, vegetables do not have a significant amount of sodium. The liquid base of your soup probably carries an extremely high sodium count if it was produced commercially. The best way to enjoy chicken noodle soup is to make it yourself. The easiest way to do this is to purchase chicken with the bone still in the meat.

Simply cook the chicken by washing it with cold water and placing it in a roasting pan for a couple hours at 225. When the chicken is fully cooked remove from the pan and let cool. While the chicken is cooling set up your slow cooker. Chop up a couple stalks of celery, carrots and onions and put on the bottom of the slow cooker. All the skin and bones from the chicken should be placed onto of the vegetables in the slow cooker. Add cold water to the slow cooker until two inches away from the top. Turn the cooker on low and leave it for eight hours. When eight hours have been completed strain the broth and let cool. The fat will rise to the top and should be skimmed off.

The remaining broth can be poured into plastic containers and frozen until needed. Once frozen run the container under hot water for ten seconds and pop the frozen puck out and place in a freezer bag until needed.

Low sodium chicken noodle soup is easy, take one of your frozen pucks and put it in your slow cooker. Add all the vegetables you want and turn the slow cooker on high for 4 -6 hours. Right before you want to eat your low sodium chicken noodle soup cook the right amount of any kind of whole wheat pasta noodle until almost done. Drain the pasta and add it to your low sodium chicken noodle soup and wait approximately ten minutes and your low sodium chicken noodle soup will be packed with flavor and ready to eat.

Cooking Chicken- Different Ways Of Cooking Chicken

Cooking Chicken- Different Ways Of Cooking Chicken

Pressure Cooker

Chicken can be cooked in different ways- it can be grilled, steamed, fried and even barbecued. Any method you choose to cook your chicken can still result in tender juicy meat if you follow certain procedures.

One of the most useful kitchen gadget you can when cooking any meat is the meat thermometer. It allows you to determine the temperature of your meat accurately and that is the key to successful cooking.

For starters, I do recommend that you season the chicken before you begin. Brining is an easy way to add flavor to your chicken. You can varied the amount of salt and sugar to your liking. All you need to do is to soak the chicken in this salt and sugar solution before you begin cooking for about an hour and you should be set to go. All you need to do after this is to ensure that you washed off the brine and dry the meat before you cook.

Here are some ways you can choose to cook your chicken.

Microwave
Cooking a chicken in a microwave can very convenient but you should be mindful that it can result in uneven cooking.

For this method, place your chicken (should be boneless) in a microwave-safe dish. Add about 3/4 cup of buttermilk over the chicken. Add in your herbs and spices before you cook the meat on high temperature for about 10 minutes. Remove the meat from the buttermilk once it is cooked and your chicken should be ready to serve.

Sauteing

This is a fast and easy way. By ensuring that your meat is thin, you should be able to cook your meat in less than 5 minutes.

Pressure cooker

For this method, choose to add your thawed chicken to the cooker together with your herbs and spices. Add about 1/2 cup of water and you can cook it on high. Your meat should be ready in about 12-15 minutes.

Whichever method you choose, do check your meat before you serve them. The above methods should allow you to dish out a variety of mouth-watering chicken dishes from now on.

Chicken soup - cures almost everything

It 'really does not matter what season it is when it comes to homemade chicken soup. This is the essence of comfort food. The feeling a little 'down? Chicken broth. Slight runny nose? Chicken broth. Feel neglected by your significant other? Chicken broth. You get the picture.

Scientists have confirmed that chicken soup helps cure the common cold. Heck, we always knew, right? Anything that tastes this good has only to take care of what.

Pressure Cooker

Seriously, havesaid it has something to do with the onions and garlic along with chicken broth. Regardless, feel free to use for this recipe, but not for the low calorie try by yourself boneless, skinless white meat or you'll miss out on the healing properties. It seems that scientists say they serve the chicken whole, not just one part.

Chicken soup and rice

3 pounds chicken, whole, cut, without giblets

Cans chicken broth 1 14

3 cupsWater

1 large onion, chopped

3 cloves garlic, finely chopped

2 bay leaves

1 tablespoon dried oregano

1 tablespoon salt crazy mixed Jane

1 1 / 2 cups uncooked rice

This recipe requires the use of a pressure cooker, which makes it a unique flavor and consistency.

If you want to use the method provides a pressure cooker, combine allIn the case of ingredients except rice in a pressure cooker. Follow the instructions to leave your flock cook for 20 minutes, remove pan from heat and let pressure drop on its own initiative. After the pressure has dropped, remove the chicken pieces, remove skin and bones from chicken and cut into cubes. Return chicken to pressure cooker and add rice. Bring the pressure again and cook for 5 minutes, remove from heat stoveand let the pressure drop on its own initiative. Be sure and check your ability to herd and make sure not to exceed the height of the chimney. Add the water last year because you can not taste as if you have a smaller stove. If you have a very strong reduction of water also reduces the rice.

If you are going to do this in a regular pot, follow the same instructions with the exception of the times. You need to simmer over low heatabout 1 hour. After the chicken has been cut and put back into the saucepan, add the rice and 30 minutes. This is not the same creamy consistency as in the pressure cooker method, however, if you prefer, you can thicken with cornstarch. Stir cornstarch mixture of two tablespoons 58 with half a glass of ice water to combine, and pour the broth, stir until the soup thickens. If you do not like rice, pasta with egg substitute, but set the time when eggNoodles require less time to cook rice. This freezes beautifully, so make a double recipe and freeze the leftovers, if you have them.

This is great served with crusty bread or crackers.

So the next time you feel under the weather or just want a bowl of soup, soul soothing, try your grandma's favorite - chicken soup.
